Oculoplastics
Oculoplastics, also called oculofacial plastics and orbital surgery, is a highly specialized area of ophthalmology that addresses the orbit (eye socket), eyelids, the tear duct system and face. An oculoplastic surgeon is an ophthalmologist who is also trained in plastic and reconstructive surgery. Oculoplastic surgeons not only take care of your eyes, they also improve the look and function of structures around the eyes. They do this using facial plastic surgery or reconstructive surgery of the face and eyelids.
Our oculoplastic surgeon in Kansas City, Jason Sokol, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist who has completed several years of additional, highly specialized training in plastic surgery. He is one of just a few hundred oculoplastic surgeons in the world and fellow of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic Surgeons (ASOPRS). At The University of Kansas Health System, he works closely with specialists in other areas, such as neurosurgery, head and neck surgery, plastic surgery and radiology, to treat patients of all ages. This team approach is one of the benefits of choosing an academic medical center for your treatment, and ensures you receive the most comprehensive care available.
We offer a variety of appointment types. Learn more or call 913-588-1227 to schedule now.
