Overland Park, Kan. — Fall is a busy time for sports and sports injuries. To help keep you in the game, The University of Kansas Health System Sports Medicine and Performance Center is bringing back its extended weekend hours for 2020, making it easier to get your aches and pains checked out in Overland Park, Kansas. From September 12 through November 21, the location at 10730 Nall Avenue, Suite 200 in Overland Park will be open for sports medicine walk-in appointments 8-11 a.m. on Saturday mornings.
"Our extended hours make exceptional orthopedic and sports medicine urgent care even more convenient for the high school athletes and weekend warriors in Johnson County," said Charles Rozanski, vice president of orthopedics and sports medicine.
But the extended hours aren't just for kids and sports enthusiasts. This is also the perfect opportunity for busy professionals who can't find time for a weekday appointment to seek urgent care for their sports medicine or orthopedic needs. "We're working overtime so our patients don't have to miss a single hour of work," he said.
For those who come to the Sports Medicine and Performance Center on Saturdays, care will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. No appointment or referral needed. A sports medicine physician will evaluate, diagnose and treat most injuries, such as:
- Bone fractures
- Concussions
- Joint injuries
- Sprains
- Strains
If needed, a follow-up appointment can be scheduled with the appropriate physician or therapist. Medication refills will be unavailable. For other injuries and conditions, such as lacerations, open fractures, cast problems, chronic pain, wound care or back or neck issues, you should visit the emergency department or one of our other locations during regular business hours.
