Why I chose The University of Kansas Health System: I knew I wanted to train at an institution that cares for patients with a wide variety of challenging diagnoses while also maintaining a strong focus on teaching and research. After completing a rotation in adult psychiatry at the health system during my PGY1 residency, I knew this would be an excellent environment for my PGY2 residency training. The psychiatric pharmacy team consists of experienced, dedicated preceptors who are passionate about both training residents and caring for the psychiatric population. Our psychiatrists and residents are excited to work with pharmacists and collaborate with us on a daily basis to ensure optimal outcomes for our patients. Preceptors and leaders within both the residency program and the pharmacy department overall consistently support and guide residents in meeting their personal and professional goals, and I have felt like an important part of the pharmacy team since day 1.
